Software Release: Tuned MPI Graph 500 Implementation with 2-D Data Distribution

Graph 500 uses a two-dimensional data distribution and several other techniques for scalable performance on large systems and graphs. "Big Data" and other unstructured, irregular applications have become increasingly important in the past few years, and high-performance computing is being applied to these problems. However, standard benchmarks used for supercomputers, particularly LINPACK, do not measure performance on these new types of applications.

CREST’s Director Andrew Lumsdaine and Research Associate Jeremiah Willcock will have a conference paper published at SC12. The paper, co-authored with Fabio Checconi, Fabrizio Petrini, Anamitra Roy Choudhury, and Yogish Sabharwal, is titled, “Breaking the Speed and Scalability Barriers for Graph Exploration on Distributed-memory Machines.” The SC12 conference will be held in November 2012 in Salt Lake City, UT.

IU Research Associate Jeremiah Willcock to present a position paper at SC12 IA^3 Workshop

IU Research Associate Jeremiah Willcock will present a position paper co-authored by CREST Director Andrew Lumsdaine at the IA^3 Workshop during SC12 in November. The paper is titled, “Position Paper: Logic Programming for Parallel Irregular Applications.”

Jeremiah Willcock presents in Copenhagen

CREST Research Associate Jeremiah Willcock presented a paper he co-wrote with Ryan R. Newton and Andrew Lumsdaine, “Avalanche: A Fine-Grained Flow Graph Model for Irregular Applications on Distributed-Memory Systems” at the Workshop on Functional High-Performance Computer held in Copenhagen, Denmark in September 2012.

Jeremiah Willcock presents at eXtreme Scale Computing Initiative

CREST Research Associate Jeremiah Willcock presented at the eXtreme Scale Computing Initiative’s Productive Programming Models for Exascale Workshop held in Portland, OR in August. Willcock presented, “Avalanche: A Flow-Graph Framework for Simplifying the Use of Active Messages,” which was co-written with Ryan Newton and Andrew Lumsdaine.
